Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
The preview shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
