Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then located multiple other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the event," they added.
City officials announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.
A senior official said the attack left him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
